MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Several leaders in Montgomery County delivered speeches Thursday morning highlighting the accomplishments of the past year. Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange, Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone and Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean also pointed to the biggest priorities for the year ahead. The one issue at the top of everyone’s priority list was education and the need for public schools to succeed. “The foundation of a successful government and a successful society is a successful education system. the last few years have been a challenge for our schools,” Dean said. “Everyone recognizes that. and although we are not the direct governing body for our school system, we the Montgomery county commissioners are proud to be members of the team that supports our schools. we know that the tax payers, teachers, administrators, students, parents in Montgomery county deserve a first-class education system, and we want to see that level of education provided in our public schools.” Read more here
